The District 19 Girls Empowerment Movement Mentoring program for young ladies is designed to support the growth and development of young ladies. GEM’s initiative promotes confidence, strength, beauty, and the use of their voices to uplift their communities

My Brothers Keeper is designed for African American/Latino boys is grades 4 and 5. This initiative helps to shape the emotional well being of our young men. The facilitators have received specialized training from the District 19 office experts. The boys are given mentors who they can rely on throughout their educational journey.

The  Student Government Association is made up of members from our 5th grade senior class. They meet twice a month with Ms. McLean and Principal Hinds to discuss the future improvement for our school, their viewpoint on instruction, fundraising activities, and community service options for our scholars.

Restorative Practice

The 4Rs curriculum (Reading, Writing, Respect & Resolution) engages the imagination and creativity of children in grades PreK-5 to help develop critical skills including empathy, community building, and conflict resolution.

What is Crazy 8s?

Crazy 8s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities! We’re nothing like your usual math club. With Crazy 8s kids will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes and play games like Toilet Paper Olympics.

Second Grade Swim at the YMCA

Second grade is an ideal time for young people to take on new challenges, learn more skills and enhance their feelings of mastery and competence. Through 2nd Grade Learn to Swim, the YMCA seeks to offer children lessons in swimming skills and water safety that will keep them safe and build physical and social skills.
